Easter...... fun has begun

Updated: Nov 6, 2019

It's one of my favourite times of year.... it's the weather and what you can do with it. Christmas and Halloween ( in this hemisphere at least is cold ) Easter is warm , the days are longer and lighter and you can have your chocolate outside. Yes, all those holidays have chocolate involved. For me it was a great time to be a Nanny and now even better time a Mum.

We are all suddenly emerging from inside activities to being able to sit on the grass and feel the sun on your face. The outings become fun, like petting zoos and farms with all their spring lambs and chickens , bunnies and other baby animals. The holidays are a good amount of time that you can escape to a warmer climate or staycation with all the activities out, on. If you have older ones there are so many Easter egg hunts and faceprinting and just general fun days out you can fill the calendar. You can go the park and stay for a while rather than freeze your hands off repeating I am watching darling. Kids can pay in the daisies and daffodils. Walks along the forests and beaches. You can get out and about. I have just got a baby bike seat for wee one and will be riding bike to places I can rather than drive. And the Easter break brings out the festivities.

I love doing the activities, especially at home, I buy up large at the pound store, plastic eggs and baskets , feather, stamps and all things Eastery. Then let me wee ones loose with paint and dyes. We make bonnets and cards. Sugar cookies and hot cross buns. Here are some great ideas

Have an Easter party and make hot cross buns. Cooking with wee ones is messy, I will give you that and your kitchen will get decorated with flour , but so much fun if you let go and go with it. Getting them to help gives them a sense of achievement, self confidence, helps with language and you can get maths in there too. Measuring out ingredients. Plus licking the spoon, watching the buns or cookies bake and decorating them !! Think another layer of icing on top of flour. Then getting to eat them after is precious. And one of life luxuries especially if you get to lick the bowl too !

Hard boil or blow out eggs to paint, cheap and cheerful paints and dyes, stickers and felt tip pens can give you a few minutes of respite as they decorate like mad. I try to get them to paint in side a plastic container. Pop the paint in and get them to roll the egg around. Or you can get plastic eggs on a string that can be hung to paint. Easter cards to send to loved ones. Keeps grandparents connected and happy. Handprints can be turned up side down and fashioned in to bunnies and chicks. You draw an outline of an egg shape and they colour it in.

You sit back with the other mums and enjoy a cuppa.

Organised Easter days out. Check out the website notice board https://www.littlehandsbigplans.co.uk/facebook-page-link or facebook https://www.facebook.com/littlehandsbigplans So many places have embraced Easter and are doing some great things, Tea parties, Messy activities ( yah they get the clean up) and Festivals of Fun.

Remember Easter isn't just about them , you can get in there and get involved and get the rewards, ( seeing your children enjoy themselves and be creative of course.... ) who we kidding , an excuse to eat chocolate Mums need these moments ! Easter is a time for joy. Hopefully warmer weather, looking forward to summer coming, getting outside to parks, swings, walks, swimming.... ice-cream. I can't wait !!
